|North Kamloops Physiotherapy Clinic|
At North Kamloops Physiotherapy, we believe in "good care with a good heart." Our most recent owner, Robinder “Robin” Gill, has brought to the clinic over 14 years of clinical experience in physiotherapy. He also has a passion for helping his patients to stay on top of their golf game. He has also learned advanced assessment and rehabilitation techniques for golf related injuries from FITforeGOLF Institute in Calgary. Understanding that pain should never keep you from doing what you love most, Robin has advanced his training in treatment golf injuries. With his passion and determination as our standard, our clinic is always trying newer, more innovative techniques such as IMS to combat all types of pain.
• Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) for Chronic Pain
This technique helps relieve your chronic pain. By using fine acupuncture-type needles, our physiotherapist can treat tight, shortened, and tensed-up muscle bands, which can contribute to abnormal functioning of the nervous system. If you are suffering from chronic pain and wish to try IMS, please contact us today. For more information please visit istop.org.
• Manual Therapy
Hands-on treatment option for treating stiff joints, tight muscles. These include joint and soft tissue mobilisation techniques. Robin has advanced education from Australia in manual therapy treatment.
• Spinal and Joint Mobilization (See Manual Therapy)
• Myofascial Release
Robin has training in this soft-tissue mobilisation technique. Myofascia is a slightly mobile connective tissue which functionally serves to surround and infuse our muscles, thus supporting and protecting them. Trauma, inflammatory processes and poor posture can cause the myofascia to become solidified and shortened. This can lead to clinical symptoms of stiffness, pain, tightness, etc. This gentle and superficial soft tissue mobilisation technique helps to break up restrictions in the myofascia.
• Exercise Therapy, MAT Approach
Exercise prescription, training, education for building muscular endurance, strength, improving posture, improving work and sports performance. Robin has training in Muscle Analysis and Training (MAT) approach. This is a very effective training approach for treating muscle imbalances due to weakness in stabilizing muscles. Cumulative trauma-related pain can be effectively treated by training the stabilizing muscles around our major joints.
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), Muscle Stimulation, Inter-Ferential Therapy (IFT) and ultrasound therapy.
• Post-Surgical or Post-Fracture Rehabilitation
Your doctor should recommend when you can start physiotherapy treatment to treat pain, swelling, stiffness, mobility and strength issues. You can talk to a physiotherapist about this as well.
• Foot Orthotics and Footwear
Custom fabricated from a foot mold. Foot orthotics can be an immense help for people having foot, knee, hip or back pain issues. Correcting the foot alignment in weight-bearing postures can relief stress on pain producing structures of our joints. Call your physiotherapist for further details.
• Assessment and Treatment of Golf Related Injuries
Robin has done advanced courses in assessment and treatment techniques for various golf related injuries from FITforeGOLF Institute in Calgary, Alberta. As a Physiotherapist, Robin is well-positioned to understand the pathology causing biomechanical issues (like muscle imbalances, joint stiffness etc) which can cause pain during the golf swing.
• Office Ergonomics and Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI)
We offer consultation regarding proper office ergonomics set-up and preventative strategies to minimize cumulative (repetitive stress) type of injuries. An interactive narrative e-learning office ergonomics online course is available for education purposes.
We sell exercise bands, sport tapes, braces and supports, such as tennis elbow braces, knee and ankle braces, etc.
